About Russ

With over 35 years of hands-on experience in property management, construction, and building operations, Russ brings a uniquely well-rounded perspective to every home inspection.

Russ began his career as a professional photographer, spending 10 years developing a sharp eye for detail. That trained ability to notice what others might miss now plays a critical role in his inspections — from subtle structural shifts to early signs of moisture intrusion or material wear.

He then spent 5 years in home renovations, gaining practical, boots-on-the-ground construction experience. Working directly with building systems, finishes, and structural components gave him a deep understanding of how homes are built — and how they can fail.

For over a decade, Russ worked as a Commercial Building Operator, earning both his SMT (Systems Maintenance Technician) and SMA (Systems Maintenance Administrator) designations through BOMI (Building Owners and Managers Institute). In this role, he was responsible for complex building systems including HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and structural components — ensuring performance, safety, and long-term reliability.

He went on to serve 5 years as a Commercial Property Manager and 5 years as a Senior Property Manager, overseeing large-scale assets, capital projects, preventative maintenance programs, and building performance standards. This leadership experience sharpened his ability to assess risk, prioritize repairs, and understand properties from both an operational and financial perspective.

Russ is also a graduate of the Carson Dunlop Home Inspection Training program and a proud member of the Canadian Association of Home and Property  Inspectors (CAHPI). These credentials reinforce his commitment to industry standards, ongoing education, and delivering inspections that meet nationally recognized professional benchmarks.

Today, Russ combines technical expertise, construction knowledge, and a meticulous attention to detail to deliver thorough, honest, and easy-to-understand home inspections. His goal is simple: to give clients clarity, confidence, and peace of mind in one of the biggest decisions they’ll ever make.
